Crowns & bridges
At Wordsworth House all our crown and bridgework is made
using porcelain to match your own tooth colour, blending
seamlessly with the rest of your teeth.*
Crowns
Crowns are used to strengthen teeth that are badly broken down, have large existing fillings or have had root canal treatment. The procedure requires two appointments. The first is for measurements to be taken, after which the results are sent off to our private laboratory where the crown is hand made. The second appointment is for the actual fitting of the crown. So what kinds of crowns are there?
- Porcelain bonded to gold
Utilising the characteristics of both materials the porcelain is used to create a natural look whilst the gold provides strength.
- Superior aesthetic crowns
These crowns are made with zirconium, which is tooth coloured rather than gold, thus providing a far superior aesthetic appearance.
Bridges
Bridges are replacements for missing teeth, that require other teeth for support.
- Porcelain bonded to gold
In the same way that a crown is sculptured, porcelain and gold bridges utilise the flexibility of both materials.
- Superior aesthetic bridges
The tooth coloured core is used instead of gold to achieve a superior aesthetic result.
- Maryland Bridge
This bridge requires no preparation of the teeth, instead a bridge is bonded to the back of the teeth.
